What Après Ski Monachil Is Like: Slope-Side Tardeo in Sierra Nevada
· Updated:
Après Ski Monachil is the slope-side terrace of the Hotel GHM Monachil in Pradollano, at the Sierra Nevada ski resort above Granada, Spain, where the afternoon party, the tardeo, starts at 3pm. It only runs in the ski season: its Instagram currently reads “temporarily closed”, and it should return with the 2026-27 season, which the resort expects to open on 6 December 2026.

Monachil the hotel, not the village
The name can confuse first-timers. Monachil is the municipality that Pradollano belongs to, and there is also a village called Monachil further down the valley. Après Ski Monachil takes its name from the Hotel GHM Monachil, and it is up at the resort, right by the slopes: Estiber's February 2026 guide describes it as “a pie de pista”, slope-side.
What the afternoon is like
Estiber calls it the most authentic tardeo spot in the resort, with the sun and champagne as the main draw. The plan is simple: come off the slopes, take a spot on the terrace and let the afternoon turn into a party. It is the opposite of a dark club at 3am, which is exactly why it works after a day of skiing. Its Instagram is the most followed of the Pradollano après-ski accounts we checked, with more than 10,800 followers in October 2026.
Hours and status
- Afternoons from 3pm in season, according to its Instagram.
- Last season it held its closing party on 9 April 2026.
- Now: “temporarily closed” (Instagram bio). Expected back with the 2026-27 season; the resort plans to open on 6 December 2026 (ABC, 19 October 2026).
The venue sells its own events through a ticketing app. We are not part of that: if you are coming as a group and want help with the plan, message us on WhatsApp.
After the terrace
Estiber's map of a Pradollano day puts the tardeo from about 2pm to 9pm, starting on the Plaza de Pradollano, and the night indoors from 10pm. After Après Ski Monachil you can carry on at Edelweiss for live music, then move to the clubs: Mango, Sohmo or La Chimenea. Our après-ski guide puts all of them in order.
Getting up from Granada and back
Pradollano is about 31 km from Granada, 35 to 40 minutes by car on a mountain road where overtaking is often not possible (Granada Direct). The season bus run by Autocares Tocina leaves from Granada bus station, at €5 one way or €9 return, and the last bus down leaves Pradollano at 6:30pm. That fits an afternoon on the terrace if you keep an eye on the time; if you want to stay on into the night, you will need somewhere to sleep, a car with a sober driver or a taxi.
Tips for the afternoon
The sun at altitude is strong even in midwinter, so sunglasses and sun cream are as useful on the terrace as on the slopes. If you are coming down from the upper area, remember that the Parador chairlift to the main square runs until 5:30pm, according to Estiber, so don't leave it too late. And if the plan is to stay the night in Pradollano, book your room early, especially for the opening weekend in December.
