Where to Go Out in Granada: Nightlife Areas Street by Street

· Updated:

To go out in Granada, Spain, head for the city centre, where most clubs are (Granada 10, Aliatar, Taböa, Vogues); start with drinks on Calle Pedro Antonio de Alarcón if you're a student, or around Plaza Nueva and Calle Ganivet if not; and take a taxi to Calle Arabial for the biggest rooms, Mae West, 365 and UNY Club. For techno and big gigs, the venues are on the outskirts, in La Zubia and Las Gabias.

Granada is compact and most of the night happens within a couple of kilometres. The rhythm is late: student guides say clubs open around 11pm and only fill up between 2 and 3am, so the first hours go on tapas and bars. Here's what each area is like, what you'll find and which club to end up in.

The centre: where the clubs are

Between the cathedral and Puerta Real you have most of Granada's clubs within a ten-minute walk of each other. Granada 10 is on Calle Cárcel Baja, right by the cathedral; Aliatar on Calle Recogidas, at the Alcázar Genil metro stop; Taböa in Plaza de Gracia; Vogues on Calle Duquesa; Backstage on Calle Moras, by Fuente de las Batallas; and Colón Plaza in Plaza Isabel la Católica. Add Planta Baja (Horno de Abad) for gigs and club nights, Sala Víbora (Santa Bárbara, near Triunfo) and RocknRolla on Gran Capitán for rock. It's the most mixed area: students on weeknights, everyone on weekends.

Pedro Antonio de Alarcón and Sócrates: the student strip

Erasmus Touch calls Pedro Antonio de Alarcón the student street par excellence, full of cheap pubs. There are no big clubs here: it's the warm-up. Directory listings put Amsterdam Café Pub, La Chica de Ayer, Perro Andaluz, La Rocka, Amy, Zaguán and Babel along the street, and Lscandalo is on nearby Calle Sócrates. Babel has table football and billiards and music low enough to talk, according to Love Granada. From here most people walk or catch a taxi to the centre or to Neptuno once it's past one. Our student nightlife guide covers which night to go.

Neptuno and Arabial: the big rooms

Around the Neptuno shopping centre, on Calle Arabial and Calle Neptuno, are Granada's biggest commercial clubs. Mae West, inside the shopping centre, has several rooms and holds over 2,000 people according to VIPLIST. 365 Music Club is on Calle Neptuno and UNY Club at Arabial 62, both reggaeton and urban with booths. It's the place for a big Thursday, Friday or Saturday, and the area most guides still associate with MoonBack, the techno club that closed in 2026. From the centre it's a short taxi ride.

Plaza Nueva, Elvira and Paseo de los Tristes

This is the old-town end of the night, under the Alhambra. Up some narrow stairs off Plaza Nueva, Eshavira has been doing jazz and flamenco since 1989, and Love Granada says it stays open until 6am. On Calle Hospital de Santa Ana, Garrison Drinks & Music has a whisky list and Peaky Blinders decor. On the Paseo de los Tristes side, El Huerto del Loro has a terrace looking at the Albaicín. It's a better area for drinks and live music than for dancing.

Realejo, San Matías and Calle Ganivet

Where the centre meets the Realejo, Calle Ganivet and Calle San Matías have the pub crowd. Ganivet, at number 13, is a disco-pub with indie nights that Love Granada calls one of the trendiest spots in town, open until 4am. Grupo Paripé, which also runs Colón Plaza, has Confuso at San Matías 25. And close by in Plaza Poeta Luis Rosales, La Moderna has an 80s and 90s dance floor. From here Vogues and Planta Baja are a five-minute walk.

Albaicín and Sacromonte

The old Moorish quarter is about views and small places. The one club is Efecto Club, on Cuesta de Santa Inés just above the Carrera del Darro, a small house and techno room open on Friday and Saturday from 22:30 to 04:00. Sacromonte used to have El Camborio, the cave club with Alhambra views, but today it only does weddings and events, even if many guides still send you there.

The outskirts: La Zubia, Las Gabias and La Chana

Granada's techno and its biggest events are outside the centre. Industrial Copera is in Polígono El Laurel in La Zubia, next to the Alshur shopping centre, with 1,000 capacity and an outdoor garden. Complejo Embrujo, in Las Gabias, says it's ten minutes from the city and only opens for events: DOMO, Babilonia and big university parties. Sala El Tren is still inside Granada, on the Málaga road in La Chana, with gigs and techno. You'll need a car, a taxi or a party bus if the promoter runs one.

Getting between areas

Centre, Realejo, Plaza Nueva and the bottom of the Albaicín are all walkable. Pedro Antonio and Neptuno are a bit further out, so most people take a taxi for the last leg. For La Zubia and Las Gabias, plan the ride back before you go in, especially on big nights like Halloween or New Year's Eve, when taxis run out.
